You leave yourself vulnerable to this without an SEO expert working constantly on your page.

Through their competition, the most successful SEO campaigns learn and adapt accordingly. It shouldn't come as a surprise if your page dominates the SERPs that your rivals are closely following your heels, watching your every move, and trying to come up with new and innovative tactics to outrank you. You give your competitors the chance to overtake you if you quit SEO services.
